FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Learning Strategic Thinking

Strategic Thinking is the art of problem solving through the use of "thinking powers". The ability to problem solve and come up with creative ideas is a quality we all have to one extent or another. It is in fact, a "mental ability" - one that we all possess in some form, even if we don't know it. Indeed, many of the most successful business leaders and inventors were avid readers, essayists, and other readers who could string together a few words and create an entire novel, treat it as a family project, and then come up with their own brilliant solution to a particular problem. The same sort of thinking can be applied to business management, and indeed to life in general. So, when you learn strategic thinking, you develop a capacity which enables you to see the world in new ways, and therefore, to get ideas for new ideas, and so on.

The good news is that there are a number of excellent online courses that teach you the principles of strategic thinking. Some are based on texts from world renowned intellectuals, but there are also a number of "get-rich-quick" schemes. In any case, your learning should ideally come from well-known authors and thinkers, and these courses will provide you with the necessary background to do this. You will gain a better understanding of how good leaders think, and how you can apply these same strategies in your own business.

There are two basic components of strategic thinking, namely; problem-solving, and insight. Problem-solving is primarily concerned with finding a solution to a particular problem. This involves the application of your "capacity for thought", which in turn is dependent upon your knowledge, skills, and understanding of a particular subject. Strategic thinking, on the other hand, deals more with using your insights, your deeper understanding of the world and the people and things around you, to solve problems. Here, the primary focus is to ensure that you maximize the potential of your "collective wisdom" by applying it to solve problems.

There are several ways that you can go about learning about these concepts. The best way to get started is through an executive MBA program at a reputable business school. You can attend one of these programs if you have the financial resources or the desire to learn a new field of expertise. But even if you don't have the time or money to participate in such an intensive learning experience, there are other methods you can employ to help you prepare for this highly competitive industry. One of these is by taking a global leadership development course.

Globalization has created massive changes in the business world. Organizations have to adapt to changes in the markets, and their internal structures as well. Learning about globalization requires a broad and deep comprehension of business, government, economics, and psychology at the same time. You must be able to analyze and interpret business data, especially those coming from different parts of the world, in order to make sound business decisions. In addition, you will need to learn how to communicate effectively across cultures and how to lead teams that are globally connected.

You can learn how to use strategic thinking techniques in your own company. But you will also need to find a professional mentor who can teach you the concepts and strategies that work. Mentoring is one of the most effective ways to ensure that you do not repeat the same mistakes. The right mentoring will instill in you the ability to think strategically rather than just reacting to a situation.

Aside from having a professional mentor, you should also pay attention to the books you read regarding strategic thinking, business, and business leadership. These books will help you become well-informed about the different theories and approaches to strategic thinking. There are also several business journals that you can subscribe to. These will keep you abreast of the latest developments in the world of business leadership.

With all of the resources you have available to you, learning about strategic thinking is not a difficult task. In fact, it can be an enjoyable part of your day. Once you know how to apply your new knowledge, you will start to see improvements in your business. As your business starts to grow and improve, you will realize that you are on your way to becoming a truly successful business owner!
